About Mozelle...
As a toddler, I had the incredible opportunity to assist my grandmother in nursing a bird with a broken wing. Little did I know that this early act of compassion would set the tone for my lifelong journey of empathy and healing. As an adoptee who faced a traumatic childhood, I turned to various creative outlets—writing, photography, playing the piano, and expressing myself through art—to cope with my experiences and find solace. These creative endeavors became my companions on the path to healing, helping me navigate the depths of trauma-induced dissociation. Amongst all, a special connection with a raven and octopus emerged as a symbol of my resilience and survival.
Professionally, I have been blessed with over 35 years of experience as an international forensic handwriting expert and a rewarding 25-year career in forensic mental health. Throughout my educational pursuit, spanning 14 years of college, I attained a Bachelor's degree in Forensic Psychology, a Master's degree in Criminology, a Certification in Crime Scene Investigation, and a Ph.D. in Applied Ethics. My expertise has led me to testify in court as an expert witness, impart invaluable training to law enforcement professionals, and work as a case consultant.
In 1987, following my military discharge, I established Forensology—a two-part venture that allowed me to merge my forensic handwriting expertise with my profound understanding of trauma's impact on the human brain. One part was solely handwriting analysis while the other part was Clinical Graphology. My professional journey began as a dedicated advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, where I served as a group facilitator and case manager. Over time, my passion for helping others led me to become a therapist, a credentialed forensic mental health professional, and ultimately a clinical director in the private sector.
My professional growth has been complemented by diverse experiences gained during internships and practicums. I have served as a surveillance officer, an AIC for the U.S. Fugitive Service, a licensed private investigator, a process server, a correctional officer, and a pre-trial officer. Each role deepened my understanding of the human psyche and the intricacies of the criminal justice system.
To expand my knowledge beyond academia, I pursued advanced training at esteemed institutions such as the National Forensic Science Technology Center, Texas A&M University, the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts, the Center for Forensic Science, DITA Academy, RTI International, and the Center of Forensic Science at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. I am a firm believer in the power of continuous learning to stay at the forefront of my fields.
Active participation in professional associations has been an integral part of my journey. I am proud to be associated with esteemed organizations such as the Society of Medicolegal Death Investigators (SOMDI), the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts (IABPA), the International Association for Identification (IAI), the American Society of Criminology (ASC), the Texas Association for Identification (TDIAI), and the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators (TAHN). Through these associations, I contribute to fostering collaboration among professionals in related fields.
In addition to my professional accomplishments, I have faced my share of challenges. I have endured vicious cyberdefamation attacks, false allegations, and name-calling from individuals who lacked understanding of my chosen field. However, I have approached these experiences with as much grace as possible, using them as opportunities for growth. They inspired me to write "Social Media Monsters: How to Survive Creeps with Keyboards", a book aimed at empowering other adult professionals who encounter online harassment. Through sharing my insights and offering practical guidance, I aim to help individuals navigate the digital landscape with resilience and dignity.
My life's purpose is rooted in humility and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. With unwavering compassion and expertise, I strive to create a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I advocate for healing, foster understanding of trauma, and promote empathy as the cornerstone of our interactions. Through my work, I aspire to contribute to a world where compassion and kindness prevail.
